We are going HOME Saturday!

Hi you all.  It has been awhile since I have written, but as usual I have been sooo busy.  I have been trying to work out solutions with the social worker on different issues so John could come home at the end of this week.  For awhile the doctors were going back and forth saying he would stay in Hershey for another two weeks, then changing their minds on it, and going back and forth, back and forth.  Well, the final decision is that John will be discharged from the hospital on Friday night after he receives chemo.  We will then return home on Saturday.  We will rest on Sunday, and then on Monday the home nurse will come and John will begin going to his appointments in our home town.

The social worker has everything worked out except for transportation.  I am supposed to work on transportation at John's hospital bedside today.  I hope I have some luck (I mean good fortune) in this area.  Not only does John need to get to his cancer appointments, but he needs to get to all of his doctor's appointments.  And now that I think about it, I have to get to mine also.  John has always driven 99% of the time in the past, due to my road narcolepsy or sleep apnea or whatever it is.  Now I have no idea how I will get to my appointments.

Having said all that, this is a red letter day that John is getting out of the hospital and it will be good to get home.  Even dealing with treatment from home will be fine, b/c we will be comfortable there.  I am so glad John made it through everything and that he is alive!  Weak yes, but very much alive!

Okay, I must run everyone.  I hope everyone is doing well.  I love you all.

Krissy :)

so happy...now..one thing to impart.  i was chitchatting with my cabbie today, mr logan, and he had a red box in the back seat with me...he told me that it was a lab box that he was transporting from one hospital to another.  he also told me that he take patients that can't afford it...that all that happened was the social worker fixed it up, and it was free transport.  so ask the sw about that.

  2. I so hope it can be fixed for you to get transport. It'd be so easy if you lived in the UK, you'd just tell them you want an ambulance and they pick you up at your door and take you home again! I'm happy John is well enough to go back home, it must be a great relief for you both after the drama of the times you've spent at Hershey. Take care and rest! Jeannette xx

  3. Wonderful news!  I know there is just no place like home--hospitals are not a very good place to rest.  The good Lord has brought you this far and I know He'll be helping you to find that transportation too !  Love and prayers, 'On Ya' - ma

  8. That's wonderful that you guys will be going home!  I'm sure everything will work out with transportation...maybe someone from your church would have a suggestion.  My mom used to drive some ladies to their treatments, they had a group that would take turns when someone couldn't do it.
You two take care and you two have a safe trip home!

  10. Maybe you can get some friends/family/neighbors to help with the driving?  I live about 2 hours from Hershey in S. Jersey.  I don't know where your home is, but are you anywhere near Cherry Hill?  If you were close, I could help with getting you to some appts.

Email me if I can help!

  17. Here in my town we have a shuttle service for people who can't drive.  You have to get a form from the transit company and it has to be filled out by the doctor.  My daughter uses it, it costs her nothing but when she goes for lab work, etc. the kids or her hubby go with her..it's 75 cents a piece for them.  Since she has had a stroke and doesn't have a motorized wheel chair, she has to have someone with her to push her. The whole family goes to church on the shuttle bus.  It works well.  Praying your transition to home will be a smooth one.  Linda in Washington

  21. So glad John is coming home Krissy.  Sorry to hear u are having so much trouble with appointments.  Here in Canada they have support at the hospitals for those who cant make appointments, someone comes and picks you up and returns you home again.  Possibly the social worker can look into that in your hometown for you.  Will keep you and John in my prayers.  I have a card for you, if u could possibly email me your home address.  Take care and god bless you both.  Happy homecoming for you both.

  26. I thought you would still like to read theese,so here it is.I hope you and John are doing ok.I am praying for you.

How precious also are Your thoughts to me,
O God! How great is the sum of them.
    Psalm 139:17

    God Values Faith
~N~ How happy would a parent be if his child
constantly questioned him whether his needs would
be met? The parent would feel frustrated and sad,
perhaps even angry that the child did not trust him.
The Bible has scores of references telling us
how much it pleases God for us to trust Him for every
need. The Roman soldier expressed great faith when
he told Jesus just to "say the word" and his servant
would be healed. Jesus told his disciples, "Look at
the birds...they neither sow nor reap nor gather
into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are
you not of more value then they?" (Matt. 6:26).
God values our trust in Him above every other
character quality. And how do we develop trust? By
spending time in God's presence, through prayer,
worship, and reading His Word. We develop it also
as we step out in faith, and discover He really can be
trusted. Are you trusting Him for every need in your life?

  40. Krissy, just the idea that he is well enough to be at home with his amazing wife, sit in the same couch, the same homey place for of memories, will feel so good....Hopefully, you can get a break away. Maybe go for a walk, listen to some classical music, feel the breeze outside,,,just something surreal.  One of my favorites things to do, is to get a sleeping bag and pillow, sit outside on a cold night and all wrapped up; just look at the universe that in one breath, almighty God created those vast stars and planets. Anyway, glad to hear John is coming home.

I'm very sure its fun to snuggle in your own bed and play with your cat... cook in your kitchen and just feel like you dont have to be at a hospital all the time... ugh! Its nice you have so many comments to your journal. That must make you feel good. I will speak with you soon... tell john I said hi.

  43. It is encouraging that John is being sent home where he and you will be most comfortable.    I hope the transportation will work out for you.    There should be some type of public transportation as there are several in my small city areas.    I have been limping in my left leg from pain in my hip.    MRI shows that I have a severe Stenosis of my L4-5 lumbar vertebra.    Stenosis is a narrowing of the spine from arthritis and it is putting pressure on my spinal column.    My clinic for chronic pain is trying to find a Neurosurgeon that will see me with my Illinois Medicaid Card.    Doctors and institutions have not been paid in over a year so I am told that the Neurosurgeons are only seeing limited Medicaid patients or non at all.   I am mostly laying on my board/cushion reading and I plan the work for my worker to do on my construction since I can not do much.    I have my final week of physical therapy this week.    mark
