Monday Morning Question

The first half of the year ends tonight.  If you had to pick a theme for the last six months (a few words to describe it) what would it be?

My answer:  presonal growth through goal setting :)

Now it's your turn.
Please leave your answer in my comment section below, or post your answer in your blog and come back leaving your link below.

my nice matters sticker

Rosemary of Inspiration has come up with an idea to change the world.  She wants to bring the Nice Matters Award to the average person.  In sticker form.  You can read about her idea in Magic Smoke.

Rosemary asks us to try our hand at designing a Nice Matters sticker.  I wasn't going to attempt such a feat.  After all, I am not a graphics artist.  But then I changed my mind.  I ran over to the Paint program and threw something together.

That's it.  Yes, it's that simple.

Why?  Because I don't want things all over the sticker to be what others focus on.  It is NICE that matters, not some fancy drawings on the sticker!

Why else is the sticker simple?  Because it is something that men, women, and young people can all wear.  Especially young people.  We want them to wear it too.  I envision them wearing something small, black and cool!

I want something simple that everybody will like so the idea will take off quickly.  It IS a really important idea.

Why?  because NICE matters.

singing to sister Stephanie

I can't sleep.  I am playing Pogo.  My favorite game is Poppit.

At any rate, I'm also listening to The Castillo Kids on YouTube.  I thought I'd share the latest song I listened to by them.  I want to share them all, but I don't want to bore everybody, as I know everybody doesn't have my taste. :)

But, anyway, here are the Castillo Kids, singing to their little sister Stephanie.

If that link doesn't work try here: YouTube - Castillo kids singing to sister Stephanie fool in love

Hope you all have a great day, Krissy :)

MIA

Hi.  Ugh.  Finally an entry.  I have wanted to do one for ages.  But I have been having these horrendous muscle spasms in my back racking me over and over.

Oh, and one word of advice for you if you have fibromyalgia.  Don't call the doctor on call at your primary care office and tell him you have fibro.  Say it is "severe spasms in your back".  Or he'll brush you off.

What I mean is this.  A couple of nights ago, waves and waves of pain were washing over my back and my body.  I was crying and didn't know what to do.  Then it hit me, I should call the doctor on call at my doctor's office.  I called him up.  I told him I needed a muscle relaxant, and that I had fibro.

I thought he would just call something into my pharmacy.  He heard the word fibro (which many doctors don't believe in over here) and he said, "Take some tylenol.  Go to bed.  You don't need to go to the hospital, see your doctor soon."

Okay, so like I got off the phone and started going a little wiggy because I couldn't stand the pain.  I started, well, crying kind of a lot.  I called Valerie and she was asleep.  Actually, John called her, I couldn't even do that.

Then I called my Dad.  "I'm going over to the hospital.  I don't care what that doctor said, he's not the one that's going to wake up at 3 AM racked in pain."

So John and I went to the hospital (The Emergency Room), and I was treated very respectfully.  I couldn't believe it.  The doctor felt certain parts of my back and said it was obvious that I was having back spasms and cramps!  That was a relief!  To be believed!  He gave me some muscle relaxants and a script.

Want to know what a back spasm feels like?  Your back spasms and then locks all the sudden before it releases again.  It is a severe muscle cramp pain.  I finally figured out what it was sort of comparable to last night.  It is very similar to when you get a cramp in your calf or your thigh.  Only with my flare ups in my back they happen over and over again, these cramps, as soon as thirty seconds apart sometimes, and could potentially go on for hours.  Just cramps washing over me.

That is why if I tell somebody I can't make a commitment I just can't.

So where is this entry leading?  I don't know.  I don't want sympathy comments.  Certainly not.  Just the thought of that makes me sad.  Then why did I write this?  To tell you all why I have not been around much.

Gee, there wasn't even a photo shoot topic this week.  I know, I know, you will say it doesn't matter.

I also wrote this entry because I wanted to tell you what was REALLY going on in my life.

I want to do more "real" entries, in this blog.  Not just factual things about hot dogs or something.  Entries that have to do with my life.  If I was gone for four days, and just came back and stuck up something factual, with nothing about me, you would not know anything about me or what I have been up to.  I don't like that.  That's why I shared with you the things that have been going on the last few days of my life.

I want my blog to be about so much morethan it is!  I'm trying to be more personal.  Some people would probably say I wear my heart out on my sleeve too much already.  But when do I do that?  When I am telling you about some illness or that I have completed OT or something.  I feel like I have a blog about sickness sometimes, LOL.

So to all my readers who have stayed with me, even when this blog has gotten kind of boring, and not enough about my personal life, I thank you from the bottom of my heart.  I promise to put more of myself into my blog now.  Not because I have to, but because I want to.

Love you all,

Krissy :)

Monday Morning Question

Have you been approached by a campaign worker, either paid or unpaid, about the Presidential race yet?  I'm not talking about the primaries, but the general election.  As in, have you been contacted by anybody from the Obama or McCain Camp (asking who you were voting for, or giving you information about their candidate)?

Sorry, that this question leaves out the people in countries other then America.  I don't mean to be so AmericaCentric, but I really want to know the answer to this question!

My answer:  Yes, I had two people come to my door representing one of the presidential nominees.  I don't even know if they were for Obama or McCain.  I was in my pajamas.  I asked them to please leave, they continued.  I asked them to leave again, they finally left.  Gee wiz.

John had somebody call him on the phone from the NRA.

What's your answer?  Has anybody contacted you yet regarding the upcoming presidential election?

*****This is not a forum to say who you are voting for!  It is merely to see if the campaigning has started yet!  I would never ask you who you were voting for!

hot dogs

In honor of the first day of Summer, I thought we'd talk "hot dogs"!  Yes, those rubbery, greasy, delicious, you know, things that you put on the grill.  I only like them if they are all beef.  And grilled up really dark.  Otherwise, nah - ah.

If you want to cook some up inside, or better yet, make them on the grill, they are a good deal, especially if you have a bunch of kids you want to feed.  Then you and the other adults can eat the steaks!  Just kidding.  Well, only sort of!  So buy a pack of hot dogs.  The beef, turkey or chicken are the best quality and taste the best, of course.  Won't go into why.

Let's talk about grocery shopping for your dogs.  If you want to get the best deal on hot dogs, make sure you check the ounces on the hot dog package you are purchasing.  A package could be 8 or 10 ounces and look as large as the 16 ounce package.  Okay, the way to find the best deal on the price of the hot dogs, of course, is to consider the price per ounce.

Now let's talk prices for eating a hot dog out.  Prices for wieners can be exorbitant if you choose to get one away from home.

Especially if you are going to Disneyland!

Before talking about Disneyland let us consider the price of a hot dog at a hot dog stand.  Well, of course it will depend on where you live, as to how much the hot dog will cost.  It will be from $1.75 to who knows how much!  In the city it could be several dollars.

Did you know the average hot dog vendor (yes I googled this), only has to spend about 30 cents in cost for the hotdog and the whole process, from the time he buys the hotdog, until the time he sells it to you?  Yes, it only costs him 30 cents to sell that hot dog to you.  The rest is his profit.

Now let's talk about the price of hotdogs at a gas station and mini mart.  No, let's not even go there!  We don't know how old those hot dogs are!  How long have they been spinning around on those circular things, anyway?

One final thing I want to leave you with.

The price of hot dogs at Disneyland:

Pluto's Dog House:
Adults:  one hot dog
(comes with small bag of chips)
       $5.49

Kids: one hot dog
(comes with small apple slices)
(also get a "fun straw" and water or milk)
       $5.49

Little Red Wagon
one hot dog
(comes with small bag of chips)
       $5.49

Wow, a hot dog that costs more than a whole pack of them?  $5.49.

I hope I am never THAT hungry!

So tell me, will you be eating hot dogs from gas stations this year?

JLand Photo Shoot #136 participants... Two

Sorry so late.  I wasn't feeling well at all.  Severe fibromyalgia flare ups.  And you are not going to believe what you have to do to stop them.  One of the things you do is hit on the area that is spasming.  I had John  tapping at first, then pounding hard on my back for long periods at a time.  Poor guy.  And still I couldn't do this entry for days.  Finally Valerie of There is a Season and Joy In The Rain so graciously volunteered to help me get this entry ready.  Thanks Val!

So now I can bring the participants to you.:

Thanks to you all who played along, and who patiently waited to be posted.  If you all didn't have a chance to visit each others photos, perhaps you will now have time to do it this weekend!

I will post a new JLand Photo Shoot on Monday.  I am also hoping to have my new camera by next week!

Okay, gotta get off of here.

Love to you all,  Krissy :)

SiteMeter Instructions

Wow, it's been since Monday since I've written.  I've had a major flare up of fibromyalgia, and I've had to take things slow.  So please forgive me for not doing much.

I've gotten a lot of emails from you all asking how to install Sitemeter.  In my stupidity, I have had a promblem being able to relay what I did.  I say stupidity because I should've written down what I was doing as I installed.  It would've been much easier doing that than trying to remember afterward.  However, a few minutes ago I backtracked through a lot of Frequently Asked Questions and found a few helpful things.  If you're still game at trying, check this page out:

SiteMeter KnowledgeCenter  (This page explains how to add the SiteMeter to an AOL journal)

If you are going to do this, it will ask you the CODENAME you created.  Finding your CODENAME you created when you started your Sitemeter is simple.  This page explains where you can find your CODENAME:
SiteMeter KnowledgeCenter

If you have another blog site, such as Blogspot or Blogger.com, and want to add SiteMeter, please check this page out:
SiteMeter KnowledgeCenter

I hope that helps.  One thing to remember.  If the instructions ask you to post anything to a document, Easy Designer, or Clipboard, you don't have to do it.  Simply post your HTML code into an email.  Then when it is time to put the code in your sidebar (All About Me Section), copy and paste it in there.  Don't forget to select HTML instead of TEXT, though, before copying it in.  Then hit Save.  This should work!  Okay, Okay, LOL.

I'm back/ I graduated from OT

I just finished an entry and it was promptly eaten somehow.  I am too tired to rewrite the entry (lucky you!), so I will just quickly recap.  I have been offline since my computer suddenly stopped working on Saturday night.

To make a long story short Verizon fixed my service a short time ago.  So I'm back.

I'm happy as a clam.

Another reason I'm happy is I finished my Occupational Therapy on Friday.

I have been working hard at OT to unfreeze my shoulder for three months.  My Orthopedic Physican says I must work on my shoulder, continuing to do the exercises at home, for three more months.

That's how long it takes to get my arm working normally - three months at therapy and three additional months at home. That's six months!

The Orhopedic Physician is going to check me once a month and make sure I am making process.  If I do not have regular function of the shoulder and arm within three months from now, I will have to have the surgery.  Yikes.

It is good that I won't have to go in for appointments anymore, but the therapists were keeping me on my toes.  Now that I have to do exercises at home, I must be diligent.

Discipline, Girl, discipline!

Love you all, Krissy :)

Krissy is having problems with her computer...

Hi, this is Valerie, Krissy's sister.  Krissy is having major connectivity problems with her computer.  She cannot get online and write in her journal.  She is having someone look at her computer Monday.  She may not be able to get online for another few days, or even a week.  I will keep you updated if it is longer than this.  Val =)

I have readers in Austria and India

Recently I found a counter in somebody's blog that read Sitemeter.  So I clicked on the counter and read about it.  It sounded interesting, so I put the Sitemeter counter in my sidebar also.

The neat thing about Sitemeter is that it's not just a counter.  It does more than show you how many visitors have come to your blog.  It shows you all kinds of things about what is going on at your blog.  All you need to do is press on your Sitemeter counter, and enter your password, and Sitemeter will take you to a site that tells you a lot about your own blog.

So on Tuesday night I began to play around with the site, just familiarizing myself with it.

I clicked on the link "Location".  There listed were the last 100 people who had visited my blog.  Not the names of the people of course.  Of course it wouldn't give out such information.  But the countries the readers were in.  There was also a pie map detailing my readership by percentages.

Suddenly I was stunned at what I saw!

My readership was 85% in America and 15% out of the country!

The largest out of the country traffic comes from Vienna, Austria!  That's 5%.  I have a very faithful reader in Vienna, Wien, Austria.  To you I want to say a big hello!  :)  I hope you will be able to comment some day, and we can all get to know you better!

My next largest out of the country readership of course comes from the UK.

So I thought I would list where the out of the country readership was from on Tuesday's report:

Austria, Australia, Spain, Switzerland, Russian Federation (Moscow City, Moscow), and Singapore

Today I got back on and checked again, because there was an update in my emailbox. Add to that list Bombay, India.

Pretty cool, huh?

Oh, you can check out Sitemeter for yourself.  But don't forget to leave me a comment first, LOL.

monday morning question

What is the name of the first entry of your blog?  What is the entry about?  If you'd like, list the link so others can read your first entry.

My answer:  The name of my first entry is Sometimes I Think.  The entry is about the fact that I sometimes think.  I don't know why I chose that title, LOL, because I am constantly thinking.  This entry is also about the fact that I am surprised that I am starting a blog, b/c I am basically computer illiterate.  Here is the link:     Sometimes I Think

Now it's your turn.  Tell us about your first entry.  You can find it through your Archives link on the top right hand side of your blog.  Click on "Archives".  On this page go to the right hand side of the blog again.  At the bottom of the page click on "First Entry in This Journal".  You're at your first entry now!

Leave your answer to this Monday Morning Question in the comments section below, or put your answer in your own blog.
