this snow stuff isn't so bad

I am sitting here next to my bedroom window, watching as beautiful snow wafts down to the ground, in swirling patterns.  Actually, it's not really wafting, it's coming down pretty hard.  The ground looks like it is being sprinkled with confectioner's sugar, and the trees, especially the evergreen, look pretty with their dusting of snow.  Actually, it's coming down harder now, the roads are getting covered.  I look over at John.

"This is disgusting" John chortled.  "I don't care if it is pretty or not.  It's still a mess!"  I asked him why he cared if it were a mess, as if he had somewhere to go this morning.  He's not going to church today because his immune system isn't strong enough.  If he wanted to, he could curl up under the blankets and read books all day.  So I asked him what the problem was.  "I don't like snow.  It's sloppy, it's messy, it's slippery. It's a mess."

I think he better get an attitude adjustment real quick, LOL, or this is going to be a loonggggggg winter.  Oh, did I say winter?  Winter starts here in November and doesn't end sometimes until some time in April.  That's one of the perks of living here.

I, unlike John, am actually starting to adjust to the cold and the winter weather.  I didn't mind coming home last night in a little bit of snow, enough that John had to get out the snow brush/ice scraper and brush the car off before we could take off.  As we drove home in the snow, with the Christmas lights lighting up the town, I felt the excitement of the new season.  I'm starting to adjust to this colder season.  I think I can make it through the next four or five months now...

  1. We don't have snow here today at least not yet, but it is cold.  Your attitude unlike mine is gratifying.  I guess we have to give thanks, no matter what.  The 'perks' as you call them last all the way til and sometimes through April here too!  It seems we have do 6 months of perks and 6 months of rather nice weather.

I just stay in alot and enjoy the warmth inside.  'On Ya' - ma

  7. I don't mind snow at all if I don't have anywhere to go.  I think it's very pretty.  I woke up and looked out the window and thought, "Wow, that's gorgous!"   John, my John, called me with excitement on the phone and said, "Do you see the snow!"  So we kind of like it.  I like it when it only snows a little to be pretty or alot to strand us.  The inbetween that causes problems is what is a bother, I guess.  Pretty, pretty.  Here comes Susie Snowflake... LOL  Love, Val who is so used to PA winters and even using space heaters.  LOL xox

  12. Snow might be okay up where people are used to it and know something of driving in it and a prepared highway dept.  Down here it's just a mess and a harrowing experience on the highway.  Snow or ice.  -  Barbara

  13. I'd like to live in a climate that had four seasons.  California just has one with variations from time to time.  Have a good day.

  14. I know you don't live too far from me, but your area always gets snow earlier than mine.  We are having rain right now.  I am a little jealous, as I would love nothing more than sitting in front of the fireplace with my candles burning and a nice snowfall out my window....but, then again, I have to go to BJ's and I don't enjoy being OUT in the snow as much as I enjoy sitting inside and watching it!!! (lol)

  16. I am beyond insanely jealous.  I used to love living in Illinois where we got snow every winter.  We don't get much snow in Texas.  ::sniff::  I gotta plan a vacation up north... ;-P

  17. LOL, Krissy, I'm so glad you are adjusting to it.  I think I'm like John and getting worse each year.  It will be a Loooong winter for me.  We just had a dusting here in my end of Pa.  It is pretty, though, when it first falls.  Have a good Sunday.  Love ya, Chris

  23. I love snow, especially around this time of the year. I'm a kid at heart around the holidays. Pickles is a pup when it comes to the snow. She's not happy until we have literally romped through every inch of our yard in whatever snow she can find. (We don't have a small yard either, along with 7 lots of woods- rolls eyes). Put the two of us together and there is fun to be had. Doc is usually receptive and gooey eyed the first few snow falls, then he complains about driving in it. Eh! Men don't get how lucky they are sometimes. (Hugs) Indigo

  24. Krissy, Dave feels exactly like John, only probably more so!  Snow = work.  Clearing the drive, driving differently....of course right now he can't even drive.  But he thinks there is nothing pretty about it, other than it's pretty awful!  I am a Minnesota girl and so I see the beauty in it you see.  But it does bother my Raynaud's syndrome and it also is less and less apealing the older we get I am afraid.  But I know what you mean.  I tell you what! Let's you and I meet up and make angels in the snow, Krissy, Want to?  Wouldn't that be FUN???  I love you.

  26. I will enjoy the snow more this winter now that I'm retired.  In winters past it's caused me much anxiety (even tho my car is 4-wheel drive), as I had several big hills to conquer going to and coming home from work.  Now I can stay home in my cozy house and watch it come down, knowing I don't have to drive in it if I don't want to. 27. Hi Krissy~We didn't get snow in this part of P-A; only gray rainy skys with temps in the 40's. YUCK! yah I need an attitude adjust ment too because other than real humidness this is my least fav weahter and we get a lot of it all winter. My Mom has always hated winter so I guess I am preconditioned...I do love snow and pray we get some. Deb ;-)

  28. Tell John not to be such an old grump!!!LOL  It is a pain in butt to shovel, clean off car, sprinkle non-slip stuff on sidewalk, drive with all the nuts that don't know how to drive in snow.  I love it.  The snow in Utah is so beautiful with the Rockie Mtns as a background.  I am going to join you and Merry and make snow angels.  Use to do that alot as a kid. Tell John and Michael "Hi" and love and hugs to you all.
