Giddy

Hello, my J-Land!

Woohoo!  I did something really exciting yesterday!  I drove for the first time in about six months!  It was just down a couple of streets to get some money orders, but nonetheless, it was driving!  I haven't driven in about six months because of the narcolepsy.  I didn't want to fall asleep at the wheel and kill somebody.

It looks like the narcolepsy medicine is working.  I still fall asleep occassionally though, and John thinks it is because I haven't gotten the CPAP machine yet for the sleep apnea.  My friends claim I am a new person now.  That I am alive, awake, and "giddy".  That I have a new personality since I started the narcolepsy medicine.  They keep calling me "giddy".  I don't know if I like that description, LOL.  Well, I guess I could be called worse things...

Let's see, what else is new besides me driving again?  John has gone severely neutropenic again.  He has been neutropenic since he was in the hospital around Easter.  But he almost got better last week.  But this week his white blood count and neutrophils have severely plummeted again.  He has a severely compromised immune system again.  But you know what?  He doesn't seem to be catching anything or getting sick.  So that's good.  No, it is great.  And, I personally would say miraculous.  What are the odds that he would be immunosuppressed all this time and not get real sick any more?  This is something else!  Miraculous perhaps?

I will say this on a good note about John.  When he went in to get bloodwork done yesterday, they remarked how well he looked, and how great his color was!  One of the phlebotomists (the person who draws your blood) said to John, "Before you could have just gone to any corner in here and curled up and taken a nap.  Now you are doing ok!"  Great, huh!

Well, that's about it, except to say that I finally feel like I may get caught up on the things I have to do around the house.  Someday.  Maybe.  LOL.  I did a bunch of things yesterday, from 5 am till midnight.  I saw how much I could do and it made me feel good.  Maybe I WON'T be behind forever.  Yesterday, I of course didn't get a large chunk of everything I needed to get done in the house.  I think that will take months, but I can see that doing this is actually feasible, and I am not so overwhelmed anymore.  I may actually at some point get caught up on my housework and paperwork, LOL.  Yesterday the maid and I did four hours of work together.  That made me feel real good.  She is a hard worker.  We got the house a lot cleaner for John.

Okay, must run, hope you are doing well, J-Land. :)  I know some of you are going through some very rough times, but keep hanging in there.

Krissy :)

  1. Krissy, Great  you feel giddy!  Yay!  And although John has to have all those precautions, at least hearing his color looked good was great to hear.  Will email you later, or IM you.  merry1621   Baby Jack is coming soon.  Val will probably be the one  of the first persons I write too.  I will try to write to you, but we have to go (3 hours away) when the baby is here, and  I may not have time to write to people, or even to post in one of my journals.  Ah Krissy, you sounds so good!  I am so so happy for you!  How is Mr. Michael doing?  I hope great.  Have you given injections yourself yet? (You will do fine & so will Mr. Michael.)  Krissy, I am so nervous about this baby, you'd think I WAS having it!  Remember YOU & JOHN are in my heart & in my prayers.  I ask that you keep us and our family in yours now.  Thanks!  Wonderful to hear from you, sweetie.  Merry

Oh how WONDERRUL!!  You guys sound like you are having good days =D!!  I'm not feeling very good right now.  I haven't had my MS Contin in 2 days and I am sick, sick, sick.  I can't do an entry or the hunt until I get some pain meds in my system.  I am waiting for the doc's office to write me an email for me to pick up my script =(.  I can't believe this happened to me.  Ugh.  So, I am sooooooooo proud of you!!!  I will do the hunt later today after I get my medicine, honey.  Hurts to type, must go .  LOVE YOU =D!! xoxoxo

  9. As long as you are aware of the onset of your sleep I am sure you will be alright.    Like you say once you get the machine and your nights sleep is uninterupted you will be well rested and alert during the day.    The main thing for John is keeping the house sterile as possible and out of risk and that is going well with the help of the maid.   Wishing you both a good weekend.   mark

  10. Good job !!!  Glad to hear the medication is working.  I can imagine how frustrating it can be not to be able to drive.  I go nuts, when my car is just in the shop for the day and not sitting in my carport.  Hopefully, eventually you'll be able to venture out even further.  So happy to hear that life is becoming somewhat normal for you & John.  Sorry to hear about Michael, but I know several people who have pets with diabetes and are insulin dependent.  Once you get the hang of those injections...you'll be fine.  I understand the needles are very small and easy to use.  Just remember...DON"T RECAP THE USED NEEDLE...use an empty plastic water bottle or a regular Sharps container to dispose of the needles.   Linda in Washington state

  16. Hi Krissy,
Very pleased to hear your narcolepsy is being brought under control. Sorry to read of Michael's diabetes, but that's manageable. Practice makes perfect. I've heard of neutropenic patients getting through those episodes without contracting anything. They're just more susceptible should anything come their way. Have a good weekend.

  21. Hi Krissy. That must have felt great to be out driving again! Good for you. :)    I hope John continues to feel better and to get those blood counts back up. That`s great that he`s getting compliments on how good he is looking. And yes indeed, that is a miracle that he`s staying well, what with his immune system being compromised.
    Have a wonderful Mother`s Day!!!

  23. WTG, Krissy!  So glad the medication is working.  You must feel so free driving.  Keeping John in my prayers.  At least he hasn't gotten ill and looks good.  That's a plus.  Boy, I know that overwhelming feeling of never getting ahead in the house.  So much stress for you, though, since John has to have a sterile environment.  I'm glad things are working out well.  HUGS Chris
