John's Mom passed away

John's Mom passed away yesterday.

I am glad she and I had the phone conversation we did a few weeks ago.  It was a really good call, and I reassured her of a lot of things.  Then I said, "Mom, I love you and I like you."

I'm glad I said that.  It made her so very happy.

This is going to be hard for me.  And of course even way more so for John.  But I am glad Heaven is a real place where we will see her again.

If you get a chance, maybe you could stop over at John's blog and let him know you care about his loss.  His blog is:  too-stubborn-to-die

Thanks, Krissy

  22. I send you my deepest condolences on your family's loss.  My pastor did a sermon last week that talked about the Church Triumphant.  He sees a funeral service as the official gathering where we move a parishoner's memeber ship from the rolls Church Corporeal (in our case University United Methodist) to the rolls of the Church Triumphant.

"....These are they who have come out of the great tribulation; they have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.  Therefore, they are before the throne of God and serve him day and night in his temple; and he who sits on the throne will spread his tent over them.  Never again will they hunger; never again will they thirst.  The sun will not beat upon them, nor any scorching heat.  For the Lamb at the center of the throne will be their shepherd; he will lead them to springs of living water. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes."  Rev 7:14-17 NIV (His sermon actually started at verse 9 but I don't want to run out of space here.) I hope I got that all right.

His view is that the tribulation referenced is not just an apocryphal event in the future but also life on Earth itself.  He says we can take heart in the fact that what is a painful time for us, is a glorious time for our departed loved one as they move on to be with God in the Church Triumphant through Christ.

God bless you and keep you.

  24. Krissy,
I used to tell my husband that if I ran away from home, I was going to his mother's. A good mother-in-law is beyond priceless, and to lose her to death - even knowing it is temporary - is unfathomable. My deepest condolences.
