John's party was postponed

Ugh.  The party I was throwing for John today was postponed.  We had quite a snowstorm.

I made a bunch of chili this morning, and now John definitely knows something is up!  I told him Shirley was coming for lunch, and he told me Shirley must be very hungry.  Then he looked at me.  A light bulb finally went off in his head.  "There's more than one Shirley coming, isn't there?"  We both started laughing, as he was finally starting to figure out why I'd been keeping so many secrets lately.

"I guess you know this has to do with you," I said.  "Yes, but I still don't know what it's for."  Bless his heart, he is so humble!

He also doesn't know we are going to have an active party.  I refined the games last night, and got the supplies ready where necessary.

Last night I also put each prize in a lunch bag and wrote either "Lady" or "Man" on each bag.  Women will get women prizes and men will get men prizes.  The winner of each game will choose a bag.  The winner won't know what prize he/she is choosing.  This way they will get a pleasant surprise!  Hopefully it will be pleasant, LOL.  If a partygoer ends up getting something he/she doesn't want, he can just trade with another partygoer, during the afternoon.

And you can't imagine how hard it is to find prizes for men, LOL.  I was buying things like Chapstick and travel size Scope, LOL.  The packages of batteries were cool though.

I got enough prizes for everybody to have several.  They are little things, but I thought they were cool!  Some of the prizes are nice things, like the Cinnamon Apple candle, the blue glass vase, and the Cocoa Butter.  I also included some silly things, such as Sponge Bob SquarePants bubble gum flavored tooth paste for kids.  They won't know what they will be getting.  It should be fun!

So this morning John wakes up and goes into the living room and keeps eyeing all the party favor lunch bags.  He is wondering what they are doing there.  "Those are your lunches, Honey.  For the next few weeks!"  He just looks at me!  Now I really have him curious.  Remember, we have only had talking parties.  "What are we going to do with lunch bags, he wonders?"  I am having way too much fun with this, LOL!

My Sissy Valerie had to call all the guests this morning and tell them to come this coming Saturday instead.  John and I will be back from Hershey by then and I think everybody should be able to come to the party.  I'll just take the frozen chili from the freezer.  You can freeze chili can't you??  And I will have to bake another cake.  Maybe this week I will come back and post what games we will be playing.  They are a blast!  I'll just tell John not to read my blog for a week, LOL.

Would you all like to know the games we'll be playing, and how to play them?  I'll post them if you'd like!

Love you all,

Krissy :)

  3. Sorry you had to cancell.  We haven't got snow yet here, but they say we will tomorrw.  Your weather is like mine in the fact that we never know for sure what we'll be able to di depending on the weather.  I can say I have plans for next weekend, but it all is going to be put off to if the weather gets bad.  It'll be lots of fun when you finally get to have it. 6. Krissy, sweetie, sorry the weather changed your plans.  Val had told me about the party.  I bet it would be VERY hard to find little presents for men!  I would love to hear about the games you are going to play.  How many people will be coming.  If I can get a flight out to PA, what airport should I fly into?  (Just kidding, I don't know what Airports you are close to, but wonder). Don't worry, LOL I am not actually a party crasher.  But I will be with you in spirit.  Hugs & Congrats, Merry

  11. Unfortunately, we men sometimes can't see the forest for the trees, so it's relatively easy to surprise us. Sorry about the snowstorm but I'm sure the party will go splendidly when the time comes.

  13. Krissy,
Oh, what fun!  I hope you all have a blast!  Please do post the party games; I need some ideas for a birthday party next month!
Also, you can definitely freeze chili--my husband says it tastes even better after it's been frozen and reheated a couple of times, lol.
Oh, and if you happen to need another men's gift: a deck of cards makes a good party favor for men.  :-)

    God bless,

  14. Forgot to mention, you could also freeze the cake if it's unfrosted (some frostings freeze well, others don't).  If you freeze it, just give it enough time to defrost and get back to room temperature--plastic forks don't work so well on half-frozen cake ... I learned that one the hard way... ;-)
So funny about the lunch bags!  Can't wait to hear how the party goes!

  21. I understand that, like stew, chili freezes well and improves with the freezing up to about six months. We've never had any last long enough to freeze. lol.

Good thing you're going to Hershey. It will keep John out of the prize sacks. lol

To John, good luck with the examination, tests, etc.
