Monday Morning Question:
Everyone has a special place, somewhere they repeatedly go back to time and time again because it holds special memories - for example, a holiday destination or the place you were brought up. What is your special place?
My special place is right where I am now - right at the home I live at. I love the area I live in. When I first moved to Central PA, I used to go back to the DC/Northern VA area where I grew up, and felt like I had to be there all the time, but now I don't even need to visit there anymore. I love it here because I have made my home here. If I want to visit somewhere I can visit in my mind. That is what my memories are for!
How 'bout you?
For me, I got back many times in memory to two places, the home were I was brought up from the age of three and a half and where I stayed until I was turned nineteen. It was a very friendly street and had many children the same age as me and we all went to school together. I loved the old house and the garden. Those were the days when I was relatively worry free, when the whole of my life stretched before me. The second place would be my grandmother's house that I wrote so much about on my journal and all those dear faces now long gone. xxxxxx
ReplyDeleteGood question, love...I don't go back to childhood and my home there much anymore, some in memories, but not too much. I like where I am right now. That is good. Sometimes when I need to go away, I go to a special place in my mind. It is full of flowers and trees and sometimes rivers and cool breezes. I sit in big meadows! Heaven perhaps :-). Wonderful! Take care, love!! xox
ReplyDeleteMy special place is the summers I spent in duluth MN ... I was born there, and would go back there for many summers to visit my aunt. We would go to lake superior (sp?) I loved sitting out on the docks and looking at that huge lake, it seemed never ending, it just reached the sky. I seemed so small, There was something bigger then my problems... and it was beautiful. The sailors would come in and talk to us, some of them knew we'd be there and bring us little gifts. We often brought them cookies. I was a battered child, but not during those times, during those times I could pretend I was "normal" So when life gets rough now... I go back to the docks of Lake superior!

When I was a teen, I had a special rock where I would sit and think about life. I have thought about that place over the years. From there, you could see all the way to Catalina Island and most of Los Angeles. I went back a couple of years ago to find that the rock is still there, but now in someone's backyard. The place I feel the most peace is in Yosemite National Park up in the big trees. Blessings, Penny
ReplyDeleteIt may sound a little cheezy, but I assure you it's very romantic. My special place is a Champagne Towers room at Ceasar's Pocono Resorts in northern PA. John and I have gone there almost every year for our anniversary, including the first year Tyler was born. The room is "couples only", no kids, so since Tyler has grown, we haven't been back. They have other more family friendly rooms, but it just wouldn't be the same for me. I have to have my champagne glass shaped jacuzzi. LOL One day soon...Ty will be old enough to stay with his grandma so we can go away for a weekend. Alone time will be nice to have...it's been a while.
ReplyDeleteMy special place is a tiny field near my childhood home, which incidentally was owned by my great great grandparents. In early spring the field was covered with violets in every shade of blue and sweet white ones.

Me and my hubby`s special place is a pretty cottage right by the sea in a county called Dorset, right here in the UK. We go there every year in September for a week. The pace of life is slower than here and we look on it as our second home, and on our return we feel energised!

My special place is here now. It used to be my mama's. To me that was what made the holidays special, going there.

ReplyDeleteI finally have created a place for myself that I like to be. I love our retreat of a home, and our family within it. Someday we will move and I guess I will create a new special place.
ReplyDeleteI go to the Lake. I have put many pictures in my journal of the lake. that Is our special place. My kids grew up going there every summer and many weekends.

I don't think I have any one special place - I alway enjoy going to places of nature. Such at Mt Rainier or to the ocean where I can sit and think, contemplate God's goodness. :-)
