Monday Morning Question

Monday Morning Question:

What are some of your happiest childhood memories?  (question from Jules)

Answer:  Some of my happiest childhood memories were when I went on family vacations.  We were all together as a family and we had so much fun.  Just being together was fun.  And so was seeing intriguing things.  And going to the beach was great.  We went to three beaches if I remember correctly.  My favorite was Nags Head, NC.  Once we stayed in a cabin in the woods.  Yes, these are some of my happiest childhood memories.

  1. Some family vacations were fun (summer trips to Cape Cod)...but most of our big family trips were the stuff of nightmares. LOL Hmm...I'll have to say my happiest memories were of those times my Dad took us to see Ringling Bros. or the Globe Trotters or Ice Capades...we did all those kinds of big arena events. I'll ignore the fact that he would lose his temper over the traffic, crowds, expense...and just concentrate on the fun parts instead. LOL

  2. Well, all my visits to my Grandmother's house which I have written about.  Family holidays because then Dad was there. He worked long hours so I did not see a lot of him most of the time.  Those holidays were precious.

  3. Mine are basically the same as yours, family vacations.  I am an only child and going on vacations with all my cousins were the best memories for me!  The beach, Wildwood NJ was one and another was a vacation with all at a Well Drilling Convention at Carolina Beach, NC.  I have many but those two stand out...thanks for making me remember the good times!  Take care, Joyce

  5. My favorite times in childhood were times getting "lost" with mom.  We would head out for a particular destination and along the way, mom would make a wrong turn and we would be "lost".  We ended up in some of the most unusual places, learn some really cool things and have a great day together. Blessings, Penny

  8. Staying at my grandma's house in the country.  We just had a good time.  She let me stay up late.  I could be loud and yell into the country side.  She fixed my favorite foods.  I didn't have to clean house.  I could paint, play the organ, play house, type, play school, watch TV and not worry about being disturbed for hours! (at home I'd have chores and we were too busy!)

  10. When I was little my brother would collect turtles for me, I would ride with them on the back of my tricyle and play they were my baby (okay I was a strange child) and he would go get a little bit bigger one so I thought that it was growing up.  He would make the switch without me knowing it, I finally caught him.  He was a good brother!  Another memory, was my sister and I put on a play in our wadding pool for my brothers and his friends.. I was a unicorn.  I had a paper "horn" it kept falling off.  (My brothers are quiet a bit older then us, so once agian I had pretty good brothers) my mother choose not to come :(.  But it was a fun play and a good memory.

  11. Alot of people wrote their responses in their journals, cool!  Let's see, happiest memories...spending time playing with my sisters and friends, especially out-doors...Spending alone time in nature looking for four-leaf clovers and sitting in the grass...having group games with neighborhood kids...some of the trips we took as a family.  I don't remember alot of my childhood.  Just bits and pieces.  I do remember liking being outside alot. xox

  12. Oh my I would have to say beachcombing and collecting sea shells is my favorite.  I grew up in Southern Florida and my Grandfather lived on the beach.  It was always fun to comb the beach for goodies.

  13. There were four children in my family.  I remember one day after a dental appointment, I was 7 or 8, and it was just ME and my parets.  We went to Winchell's and I had a chocolate donut and a Pepsi.  We talked and laughed and I had their undivided attention!

No wonder I still can't stay away from Pepsi or ANYTHING chocolate!  Good memories!

  15. I have a very vivid memory of one afternoon - it's not the only happy memory, just one of many ;o) - spent at the beach.  I don't know how old I was, but we were on holiday.  This particular afternoon was spent paddling in the sea, making up songs and singing them to myself while paddling and looking out at the ocean.  Seemed like I was there for hours, just daydreaming :o)
