I awoke this morning with tears streaming down my face. WHEN is this pain going to end, and how did I possibly stand it before I got the pain meds and and muscle relaxants a few days ago? I can't even fathom. Oh well, the pain has to end eventually. So I swallowed some pills and got on here. I am not one to stay in bed too long, lol...
So today is Sunday. Sunday is my favorite day of the week. The day I go to church and worship the Lord. The day that I take all day to concentrate on Him. Not that I don't do that other days, that is silly. But I have more time on Sundays to set aside to do Bible reading and such.
So tomorrow John and I have a "fun night" planned. It was ordered for us to have by one of his "chemo angels". She sent us a DVD to watch, and some classical music to listen to. She also sent us some candy. John's other chemo angel sent us a Wallace and Gromit movie. I love Wallace and Gromit! This one is called "The Wrong Trousers"! So we will have movie night.
I was also thinking about making some "mocktails". I have a few recipes that I found online:
Non Alcoholic Pina Coladas
1 (8 oz) can crushed pinapple (or use fresh)
2 1/2 cups vanilla ice milk or ice cream
1 teaspoon rum extract
coconut milk to taste (or you can use coconut extract)
1 tablespoon sugar
Directions: Place all ingredients in blencer. Add ice. Blend until smooth. Serve immediately.
Virgin Mary
6 oz. of tomato or V8 juice
1/2 oz. lemon juice
2 dashes Worcestershire Sauce
3 drops Tobasco Sauce
salt and pepper to taste
celery stalk
Directions: Shake with ice and strain into chilled glass. Add celery for garnish.
So that's about it for what we have planned. And by the way, does anybody have any suggestions for good movies to watch? We are thinking of maybe taking in another one this week. You can rent them very cheaply here. What are you all's favorites?
Krissy :)
Sorry to hear your back is still paining you. I had back pain for seven years and know how you feel. I love the films On Golden Pond (got to see Guam Lake where it was filmed in New England!) and The Journey of Natty Gann. No sex or violence, just really lovely films. ReplyDeleteHope those meds work, sorry you are in pain. The mocktails sound delicious, thanks for sharing your recipes. I love watching movies..Hocus Pocus, The Bishops Wife, Rachel and the Stranger, the Harry Potter movies, Tracy-Hepburn movies, anything Redford is in, and old musicals. Really liked Ladder 49 with Travolta...but its very sad. Hope you find something to watch, your movie night is a great idea...and sounds very romantic. ~Deborah

great idea to make those mocktails! I'd go with the pina colada myself. If you have never seen "Bandits" that is a good funny hilarious movie. We also rented "Because of Winn Dixie" about a month ago and that was just darn cute.
ReplyDeleteI hope your pain goes away, Krissy, very soon.

ReplyDeleteIf you havn't seen them all yet get the Lord of The Rings 3 movies and spend all week watching them.
Fried Green Tomatoes is my all time favorite movie! Hope you feel better. Brandie
ReplyDelete"Sleepless in Seattle" is a great love story...and shows some of the great scenery here in the Pacific Northwest. It was filmed on a houseboat on Lake Union in Seattle. Also, I love "Out of Africa." If you can find it..the movie that John Wayne was making when I met him (in 1955, I was 13 yr) is good. It is called "Blood Alley." Very good story about a Chinese village fleeing the communists. Just have a wonderful relaxing time.
ReplyDeleteVirgin Marys sound like a good idea! HAHA! Did you see the new Wallace and Gromit movie? I haven't yet. Chicken Run is good too! (CR is by the same people, if you didn't know.) Cheers! Kellen
ReplyDeleteI do hope that your back gets better soon. The ER never helped me with my back. I guess they thought I just wanted pain meds.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry your still hurting. I hope the pain ends soon. As you wrote you hate to lay in bed but don't overdue it.

ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry that you have to endure the grinding pain you are describing to us. I'm so glad that you have family & church to depend on. That is so important. As far as movies go, a light comedy is my suggestion. I'm not much on watching movies, but movie nite & fun nite with some mocktails is just what the doctor ordered. Hugs & prayers to you.
ReplyDeleteKrissy,
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry you are hurting so badly. Sending gentle hugs, LuAnne
