Hi! We are home and it is glorious! To be in our own bed, to see our kitty, to eat our own food, LOL. But I am afraid I overdid it. I have had to do everything without the nurses in the hospital. There will be a homehealthcare nurse, but she doesn't come till tomorrow. And she won't be doing much anyway. So I have had to do just about everything myself. So I have had a hard time keeping up with the pace. What I did was pull the muscles in my legs. Now they are so stiff that they are spasming. So I am off to the ER to get a muscle relaxant or something. Perhaps I am a baby, but they are hurting so severely, and keep starting to painfully go into charlie horses. I can't go into charlie horses tonight. I can't really bare that. I have done that before and that's very painful.
I also have cellulitis in my legs. They are so swollen and red. They are extremely large. Like giant stuffed sausages, LOL. My feet are that way too! I got the cellulitis in Hershey. I had to go to the ER when I was in Hershey. They wanted me to get an appointment at my family doctor when I got back home. I called today and they told me to come in next Tuesday. I can't wait that long. I am going to the ER tonight so I can be seen for that also.
I will write more when I get back. I want to give you some happy news about how great it is to be back home! It really is great! Even though I am tired, I praise God we are here. It has been such a blessing for John and I to be home. John is really flourishing at home. He is doing so well. By the way, John has been able to be OFF dialysis! I will tell you more about that later. He is a real fighter. He is still getting blood about every five days, but maybe that will end soon. Who knows. He will be getting blood tomorrow morning. Probably two units (bags). He will get it at our local hospital. Okay, I must go. A taxi is going to take us to the local Emergency Room (ER).
Love you all lots, and sorry if I have been so busy that I have not been able to post sooner, or thank those who have written or sent us anything. My apologies. I love you all. So does John.

ReplyDeleteKnow you will be really busy, but get the home health to do as much as you can. Maybe check into an Aid too. If mothing else, let your Church know that you need some help! That's what a Church family is for...to help one another.

Hi...so glad you guys are home! So sorry you have to go to the ER. I hope they are able to help you out. I know when I get charlie horses I try to eat bananas for the potassium. I also soak in a hot bath tub. It seems to calm the leg muscles down.

Krissy; take care of yourself. Cellulitis is not something to not take seriously. I know you have a lot to do with John's care, BUT you need to be elevating your legs and following doctor's orders. Hopefully extra help can be gotten for you to help in John's care.

I really hope it is as simple as a pulled muscle and will clear up in a day or two. You are such a trooper Krissy. There has been much responsibility put on you recently, and you are coping with it like a pro. Eventually, things will get easier, hang in there.

ReplyDeleteI'm more than pleased to hear that John seems to be getting over AHA, with his diminishing requirements for blood. It's also a great relief that the dialysis is no longer required.
You are absolutely right to take your cellulitis to the ER - you'll find yourself dosed up on antibiotics big time. It should have been dealt with straightaway, actually. Keep us updated - best wishes to you both.

Glad to hear John is making great strides. Hoping you too are on the mend soon Krissy. Cellulitis is a infection that can't be taken lightly, so do be careful since both you and John do have weakened immune systems. Hopefully they started you on anti-biotic's at Hershey before sending you home.

ReplyDeleteI am sorry about your legs, and other problems. I hope going to ER helped you. I don't think it should have had to come to this, but sounds like you had no choice it did! I hope that going to ER got you some action on solving this problem. With everything you and John have been through, you didn't need this. I have spent many hours going to ER, and waiting 3 hr. to be seen, so I know that it's hard. But sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do. It's great that you are smart enough to know it. It is wonderful that John is off dialysis! Having been so sick and to be coming back so well is remarkable. His not complaining about his illness is something that I do not think I would be so patient and calm about, so I admire his courage and patience! If I had someone as considerate and caring as you with me it would make a great difference. I know you put his mind at ease and let him know that things are alright thru the toughest times. Your cat Michael sensing that he is going thru a health problem is something that can not be explained in words. I will pray that John continues to improve and that the worst days are behind. mark
