For this week's Monday Morning Question, please see Val's journal There is a Season. The next subject for the Photo Scavenger Hunt is listed in Val's journal also.
I haven't done an entry in awhile. The computer at Hope Lodge here was dying, and almost out of use. But tonight we got a new one! I can't believe I am using a brand new computer at this very moment!
Things are OK, I guess. John is doing OK. He gets tired a lot, but is hanging in there. He goes to Day Hospital every day, and then we are together at Hope Lodge at night. It is very nice here at Hope Lodge and we are all like one big family.
John goes to Day Hospital in the morning and gets a lot of bloodwork drawn. Then he is given a lot of fluid via IV. Then his creatinin (kidney function) levels are taken. He has been having a lot of problems with his kidneys. The medication he has been taking for the Cytomegalovirus is making him have the kidney problems. Every day he is given a test, and if his creatinin level is too high (his kidneys are not functioning properly), he is not given the CMV medication. Because the CMV med hurts his kidneys. If the creatinin level is low enough, he is given his CMV med (Foscarnet). It is a balancing act. They want to give him the medicine to get rid of the CMV virus, at the same time, they don't want his kidneys to fail. So they are making some tough calls.
So those are the medical facts. How am I doing? Fine. I am waiting for John's appointment on Thursday with Dr. Claxton to see if he is going to give us any more information on John's bone marrow biopsy he had a few weeks ago. I still want to know what caused the "thinning marrow". It is probably just the CMV but until I know for sure I will not rest easy...
Let's see. What else is new? We had a fun Mother's Day Party here on Mother's Day. And BTW, for those of you who sent me Mother's Day cards, I am not a mother, LOLOLOL...
Well, gotta run, Krissy :)
you are a mom to micheal the kitty:) have a good week
ReplyDeleteDeb
So glad for the update on John. You're mom to a kitty and you're a daughter, so that means someone (your mom) became a mom when you came into the world. That's all that matters. And I'm sure to John you're a wife, a lover, a friend, a caregiver and maybe even at times...a mom. Linda
ReplyDeleteGlad you are able to work on a good computer. It helps to get the mind on something else for a bit, doesn't it? I'm glad you all are able to stay at the Hope House and not tied to the hosp. 24/7. Probably helps break up the days. thinking of you and John. Take good care.

I'm glad you got a computer to use there. I know I'd feel very odd not having one to use. I hope you are able to get some good rest and keep up your strength. All this is bound to take a toll on you too ! Hugs to you both and prayers always. 'On Ya ' - ma
ReplyDeleteGlad things seem to be going well. Maybe Mother's Day should just be "Honor Women Day" instead. How's that? Martha :-)
ReplyDeleteHi Krissy, I`m glad things are going well for John, may he get well very soon. How nice for you to use a brand new computer. Thanks for you update and best wishes to you both. :o)

Krissy, my dear. So, John's appt. is Thursday. I will light a candle tomorrow and say some prayers for a good outcome. Call me if you need to talk, k? I miss you guys =( . Michael (your son!) is doing well. He is tangle-free and eating and happy. Give John some hugs for me. I will pray for John's kidneys, too, and his strength. Hey, I almost sent you a Mom's Day card cuz you are a mom to Michael and you are a second mom to Chels and Matt and you love all the children in the world. I even filled out the card. LOL Love you guys!!! xoxoxoxoxoxo

Good to hear John is still hanging in there. Keep your spirits up!
ReplyDeleteI am so glad you were able to give an update! Yay! I think Mr Michael would say you are his mommy!
ReplyDeletePrayers coming honey...
be well,
Dawn
Well, I think we're all agreed that you're Michaels mommy!! I hope John will be better soon, and able to have his CMV meds without damaging his kidneys, it builds up a lot of toxins doesn't it? Praying for you both to keep your spirits up and get home soon. Jeannette xx
ReplyDeleteWhat is Hope Lodge?
ReplyDeleteYou are just like a mum Krissy, when you try sorting me out and telling me to take care of myself lol. Keeping my fingers crossed for Thursday, in the hope you get some facts. Love to John and love and lots of hugs for you, my special friend.

I am hoping the best for John and you. Everyone agree's that you are a mom to Micheal the cat. Were would he be without your love and guidance and serving him meals. You are about to be a great Aunt, so your status is increasing. John must be exhausted from all the treatment he is having to go through. I am going to watch the final 2 hour episode of Lost tonight. Nothing like TV to warp the mind. Will look forward to more journal entries for you both. Take care, mark
ReplyDeleteHey
