Photo Scavenger Hunt

My sister Therese Shaffer came up with an awesome idea.  We have decided to start a Photo Scavenger Hunt.  We are doing this to practice our photo skills.

This is how it goes.  The first week she is going to name about four items and we have to go out and find them and photograph them.  Then we are going to post them.  The photos must be posted by noon on Saturday.  Next week will be my turn and I will name the objects.  We are going to go back and forth like that every week.

The reason we are doing this is to practice our photography skills.  And it is to have fun.  There are no "rules".  There is no "see who finishes first".  It is just to practice our skills.  I have to admit, though, I already do have some fun ideas for the first set of pictures we are supposed to take this week.

This week's photos (her selection) are: something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue.  That would be four photos, one of each item: an old thing, a new thing, a borrowed thing, a blue thing.  Well you get the idea.

So I have decided to put my photos in the journal on Saturday, October 9.

If you would like to play along too, feel free.  Just put your photos in your journal some time on or before Saturday and leave your journal addy in my entry when I post mine.  If you do this, I promise I will go take a look at your entry, and will leave a comment ;-), because I am curious to see other people's photography.

I am really excited about doing this because I am just learning my camera.  So on Saturday, you will see what I picked for:

Something Old
Something New
Something Borrowed
Something Blue

This is going to be fun!  Oh, and if you have any ideas of things or categories to be photographed, let me know.  I am always open for suggestions!  I will give you credit if I use your idea.

Keep on having fun, Krissy

PS.  Please keep the photos you put in your journal entry current.  They are supposed to be something you take that very week, not something you took in the past.  The point of the assignment is to practice your photography!  I guess that is the only rule, lol.  Well, shoot away!

  1. You and your sister have come up with a good idea.  Do not know whether I shall be taking any though, pouring with rain here and the forecast is bad for the rest of the week.  I look forward to seeing yours.  Oh, Krissy, I was deeply touched by your comments on my entry yesterday. God bless you dear friend. I am always here for you ~ Jeannette

  2. I've asked Hubby for a NEW camera, since I dropped the one we bought about a year ago.  It will not focus now.  Otherwise, I'd play!  Sometimes we can take shots of close up things - it works great for ebay or a pic of the dog, but to adjust the lens - it goes fuzzy!  Have fun with the camera.  I will be enjoying your pics (and hoping Santa, aka Hubby, brings me another!)

  3. Oh definately going to play along, what a great idea!!  Of course I won't use this as it would be too easy, but my little man could be all four of this weeks photo's.  Something old - well he'll be five this month, and to me that's incredibly old for my baby.  Something new - he's at that stage where he's learning something new almost every day.  Something borrowed - well, I know he won't always be my baby.  And something blue - those big blue eyes of his :)

  15. Can I play hu hu? Can I?....  CAN I? Dang kids. Got me all fired up.. as long as the photos are not being judged. But be forewarned your sister is developing quite the photographer's eye .... but I think her cat and daughter will be relieved for the suggestions of new subject matter. OK. I'm off to dust off my camera.
