Monday Morning Question
If you were dropped off on an island for one year, and you couldn't get off, and you get to pick three (and only three) food items to eat all year, what would you choose? Keep in mind that the items would be dropped in for you, so they would be fresh.
My answer: fish, rice, and oranges. Fish for protein and I like how it tastes. Rice to fill me up. And oranges so I don't get scurvy. Now John doesn't like my answer b/c he says I am not playing this right, that I should pick fun foods, not worry if I get scurvy, that I am misinterpreting the question. He wants pizza, meatball subs, and chocolate milk shakes! That's NO vegetables or fruits, folks!
What do you want?
Meat because it's full of goodness and i like meat
ReplyDeleteFish and chips cos they are my favs
Pasta meals.
Kristina, I'm a pragmatic person, much like yourself... Before I even finished reading your question, my thoughts were going down the same path: a strong protein, a fullfilling starch, and choosing a fruit or a veggie that would round out the most vitamins! So, I'm with you... although I don't exactly know what scurvy is, I think it means bad teeth. I just got braces (2) months ago, so a year without seeing my dentist (ortho) is going to be painful if it starts now! LOL... Shana

ReplyDeleteWell...going along with John's idea...not being practical and all...I'd have to choose:
ReplyDelete1) Ice Cream
2) chocolate
3) Wine
(and for extra...how about a fruit and cheese platter??)
Oh, I forgot Pizza.
LOL!
Nancy
Yes like John says the rules must be changed. lol Of couse I will have all the vitamins and medication I need along my computer, television, dog, credit cards, etc.
ReplyDelete1) wafer sliced chicken (including horseradish sauce and mustard)
2) sliced pepperoni
3) yogurt ( all different varietys)
I hope John is comfortable in the hospital getting treatment for the fever. This is a long ordeal for him and you and with the great results he has already had from the transplant, it will give him inspiration to endure this occurence.
Love, Mark

It would depend, if I had to stick to my diet I'd have chicken, broccoli, and salad dropped. If this was fantasy island and I could have anything and not worry about gaining weight, I would have roast beef, mashed potatoes, and fresh baked breads. I haven't had anything white (bread, rice, potatoes, sugar, noodles, etc.) for 6 months.
ReplyDeleteI think I would have chicken, vanilla milkshake and coffee. Hope fruit on Island and will catch fish.
ReplyDeleteTell John and Michael Hi........Love Myke
I want custard, caesar salad making kits, and olive and mushroom pizza!
ReplyDeleteI agree with John.... I want unlimited filet mignon, eggs, and cheese.
ReplyDeletebe well,

ReplyDeleteI have a funny feeling Krissy, many people would figure my pics out real quick...Chinese food...LOL!!!
ReplyDeleteHugs....now I need to come back and do three real choices!
Joyce
I have thought about this before...if you could pick ANY 3 foods, you would be able to have some way to store them if they were perishable. I think I'd want beef (Steak and hamburger); reeses peanut butter cups; & caffeine free diet coke. LOL Hopefully Rich will be with me and bring the vegetables; chickens (for meat & eggs) and BREAD. LOLOL Have a great week. Love to you and John.
ReplyDeleteBarb
There is tobacco on the island, right? mark
ReplyDeleteAnd coffee/milk (from cow, not coconut) mark
ReplyDeleteWell if I was dropped off on an island.. I'd sooner or later find my own fish.. and I'm sure I could get vitamin C from some kind of island fruit around so I'm going to go with.. (yeah leave it to me to get technical lmao*) I'd go for chickens .. preferably live for they could serve more than one purpose like eggs! I'd like some chocolate and.. hmmm last one.. let me think...rice I think.. ;)
