Will we ever get home???
Ok, so it's like this. Yesterday John had an appointment with Dr. Claxton. It went rather well. While John still has some problems, Dr. Claxton was going to allow him to go home today (Thursday), and have care at home with a home nurse. But we were going HOME. Then when we got back to our room at Hope Lodge later in the day yesterday we found a message on the answering machine from Dr. Claxton's nurse. She said don't leave town (Hershey) and that John will have to get a test on Friday to see if his CMV has returned. You see, when John went to Dr. Claxton's yesterday (Wednesday), he had bloodwork drawn, and something showed up in the blood. It is very possible that the CMV is back. Mitzi (the nurse) said she would explain more when she could get ahold of us by phone on Thursday morning. I am anxious to get the call this morning because I want to know just what the treatment would entail if John does have CMV again. The standard treatment is the IV and that would mean staying in Hershey for another four to six weeks. But I don't think John's kidneys could stand that treatment. I wonder what they are going to do to him, and if they are going to make us stay here. Okay, I have to get off now, I have some things I have to go do. I just wanted to let you all know what is going on. I will try to post later on today and let you all know what Mitzi said when she calls. Krissy

Praying the CMV hasn't returned Krissy. It's such a disappointment for you, I know how much you were looking forward to going home. You've both been so good about accepting what has to be done and I know now you just want it all to end and get back to a normal life. I hope you get some good news today from the nurse. Jeannette xx

ReplyDeleteLove, you call me when you are able to, okay? Is it safe, with the water on the roads to go home? I know the Susquehanana goes through Harrisburg. I guess it must be or you wouldn't have been driving home yesterday. So, you guys are in my prayers today. Constant prayers. John and I will be off later today to clean, clean, clean your apartment, no matter the news! Love you guys sooooooo much!! Love, your sissy in central PA where there is no rising water, thank goodness! xox

I finally got to read the recent entries in your journal about John's condition. I hope the CMV will be cured by the oral anti-biotics and him not having to be on an IV should be a relief anyway. Wishing you both a good 4th of July evening and enjoy the food that you described. It makes me hungry as I only have had a bowl of cereal and a yogurt today. I cooked ground chuck in my little kettle charcoal cooker last night using Pecan and Peach wood from my yard and added several charcoal briquets and a mesquite briquet. I let it cook for several hours seperated from the grill with pre used tin foil so that it does not overcook. I ate a little after bringing it in late last night. I will make it with chopped onoin and fresh garlic with 2 burritos in my microwave. Then I add ketchup and worcestershire, and teriacke sauce. I first cook the burritos with the onions and garlic with watered down mustard sauce from nearly empty container sometimes, but I will add water to the plate. After they are thawed I let them sit for up to an hour to let the onion and garlic mix in well with the water/mustard. Then I take it out and add the cut up ground chuck and put on some BBQ sauce and cook again. Hugs, mark
