monday morning question

What prompted you to start your journal?

My answer:  My sister Valerie had a journal and urged me to start one.  You all will not believe this, I am sure, but I was a VERY private person, not willing to share my feelings and especially what happened in my life with others, not even family members.  So why did I start a journal?  I am not sure.  I think it was because I love writing, and because my sister urged me to do it.  I continued it because I love you all.

  1. The reason I started my journal was to keep in touch with my children and let them know about what was happening at home.

  2. My wife Krissy wanted me to do a journal because she thought it would help me to debrief from the past couple of years.  When she first suggested that I do a journal I resisted because I thought it would be too much of a chore to be writing entries all the time.  But I agreed to do it at first to make her happy.  Then when she started helping me work out the details of my sidebar I started getting interested.  Then I wrote my first entry.  I found my way back to my college English courses and how much I enjoyed them.  But this was something that I could write because I was interested in writing, and not because it was an assignment.  It was interesting because not only have I been able to write, but it has given me a connection with other people and I found the feedback and encouragement very enjoyable.  I hope to get to know everybody better.

  3. I started my journal as a weight loss aid.  I couldn't get the weight off and I thought that maybe if I wrote about it, it would help.  The bad news is...I haven't lost much weight.  The good news?  I have made quite a few friends!!!!

  7. I did it on a total whim.  I have always had journals on paper.  When I first got AOL, I saw this link that said start a journal.  I never thought anyone would really read it.  When a person or two did and I made friends I found it addictive and fun!  Now I continue because, like you Krissy, I love my friends and support!  Hugs, Val xox

  13. Krissy, I don't have a journal for all of you to read, but have kept a personal journal for a good 30 years.  It's amazing to look back especially when I've had sad moments and see how months later, I've grown and was able to go forward. Or if something was really bothering me, to see that I now look at it and say "why did I let that bother me".  It's a good release, can't imagine not having my journal Have a good day. Arlene (AJ)

  16. A friend recommended I start a journal, as she knew I loved to write, unfortunately, I find it difficult to write about personal things and have been so very busy, have not been able to do it justice, i hope to as the winter months approach.  I love photograpy and would like to incorporate this into some of my entries.

  20. Krissy, One day I was browsing around on AOL.  I saw this picture, and introduction of someone who had was "new" to journaling.  I read her entry, and followed it for a few days, and then I wrote her!  She talked me into starting a journal. As many of you know I am not all that computer saavy about some things. But Rhonda walked me through all this. She became of the best friends I have ever had!  We have been CLOSE from the start.  After that, I started reading some other journals and got the privilege of becomming friends with SO many of you wonderful people, and some of you are as close to me as family.  I had written one on paper for years....but this is much more fun!  It's so cathateric. And that saying, "A burden shared, is a burden cut in half," is so true.  Every week I seem to meet someone new!  It's never ending.  You lose touch with some, but the ones that matter you become closer to and can have fun and get lots of support!  Sorry I got so long here.  Love you Krissy!  Merry

  21. Hi Krissy- I think I started my journal because I read Barbara (Life and faith in Caneyhead)  I thought it was a neat way to talk about things.  I'm such a political and outspoken person, that I really don't get to talk about my opinions on politics and religion with family and friends (gee, I wonder why!!)  and, I thought starting my own journal would be a good way to get my feelings off my chest.  At first I was not really going to make it public because I thought people would be bored or uninterested in another "opinion" that's pretty much rehashed all the time- but I enjoyed it so much that I decided to go ahead.  I don't have many readers, but they (you too) are pretty regular and I'm grateful.  Not all my opinions are Bibllical perspectives, but I try and get information out on important things- which is why I also started the matter of life journal as well as news on the war and Christian persecution prayer journals which are all in my about me section.  Thanks for coming by every once in a while Krissy!  I value your friendship and your views too!  God Bless you  and I hope we can all continue being encouragement for each other!!!  Love Carolyn :)

  26. I dont have an aol journal, I do have blogs online for various subjects, and also do a light fluffy one. My online work leaves me very little left in the way of energy to write a blog however, I would say Im thrilled my sisters, and now brother in law have found comfort, and friends in their journals. It has helped me feel closer with you personally Krissy. The sister who I was able to feel close to during my own cancer. Reading what you went through with John, and your fears, highs and lows, and your triumphs (spelling?) have given me courage, and hope in my own life, and the fun way in which you have retained your childlike wonder and enthusiasm is inspiring. It shines in your Journal... so glad you personally decided to do the journal, it matters to many people Im sure but clearly most of all you and john :)

xxxxxxxxx now that was sappy! hehehe

  31. I love to write too...And then it led to graphics, my graphics groups, photography, learning paint shop pro, and then to doing videos and flicker and all sorts of other HTML type additions.  I am flat addicted to the whole thing.  I also like the ability to change skins.
