There's no place like home!...

Hey journal friends!  We got home from Hershey Medical Center last night but I was so exhausted I couldn't do an entry.  I've finally caught up on my sleep so here I am.

Well, as you can tell, John was discharged from the hospital pretty quickly, by the decision of Dr. E.  When I first heard John was going to go, I was kind of upset and John and I were considering whether or not to phone Dr. Claxton.  Next thing you know the Physician's Assistant came in the room and said Dr. Claxton had been spoken to (I am guessing yesterday's doctor had arranged this - the doctor who was trying to get John the tests!).  The P.A. said that Dr. Claxton wanted John to take a new medicine.  It is a very strong medication that acts against all kinds of fungi, especially mold.  I think Dr. Claxton was worried that John might have fungal pneumonia as John's pneumonia has been hanging on for so long and his pain level is 8 without the pain meds.  And still pretty high with the pain meds.  So anyway, Dr. Claxton gave John about 4 scripts for different meds.  And gave John an appointment for a CT scan and a check up with him on this coming Monday.  This made me very happy and I was comfortable with John leaving the hospital at this point.  So all is well.  If Dr. Claxton wants him back in the hospital on Monday, he will put him back in, but I am hoping John will be able to be treated at home.  But at least he will get a thorough check up.

So last night on the trip home from the hospital, when we got two towns over, I looked up, and I noticed the town was all decorated for Christmas!  Gee, they start even earlier than me!  I am not talking about individual houses, but the actual town.  Here in PA the whole towns get decorated, by the local county governments I think.  Or maybe townships, I am not sure how they do it exactly.  Anyway, when I lived in VA, we never did anything like that.  So John and I are looking around at the pretty Christmas decorations.  Each pole along the road is decked out in a wreath with a bigred bow, LOL.  And we get out and I notice it is snowing, LOL!  Crazy.  I am thinking, but it is not even Thanksgiving!  And as we got into our hometown, I noticed it was also decorated for Christmas downtown!  Big silver and blue snowflakes that sparkle were attached to the poles.  They were so pretty!

Okay, now that I am in the holiday mood, I better get off here and do some holiday things, LOL.  Oh yes, I better think of Thanksgiving first, I still have a little shopping to do, LOL.

Love you all, Krissy :)

  8. Krissy, I am glad that you are both home. Maybe you both can celebrate the holidays now! Anyhow, the little town next to ours in Woodbridge, Virginia was always decorated lavishly in an old fashioned way for Christmas the week before Thanksgiving. Remember Occoquan? Sometimes I would take you and your sisters down there on Thanksgiving?!  You must have forgotten...I know Occoquan like a lot of small towns across the US decorate early and have festivities throughout the holiday season; where does this money come from to finance it? The local Merchants Association. Once in awhile County Governments, not usually though. In the next small town here, (Solomons, Maryland) a local restaurant had served up Thanksgiving for the homeless and anyone who wants to attend can come for free! Although the "Lighthouse Inn", burnt to the ground recently, the tradition will still be carried on!  The owner is still cooking at another restaurant on loan, until he gets his new place." God bless America, and all of her warm fuzzy towns!"

  14. I'm glad you ar home again.  Glad too that John has a good doctor!  Hopeing everything will be OK soon!!! I'll bet it was real pretty when the Christmas decorations were colorful in the snow!  Reminds me of back home when I was little.  Our town does that too a little, but it's not the same with chirtmas decorations hanging from palm trees!  It's neat though, because alot of homes go all out with whole villages and 'fairy tale' type things in their yards, and it's a lot of fun going for drives to see them.  Hope you have a great Thanksgiving, and that John will be less in pain!  God Bless- Carolyn

  16. Oh Krissy, so GLAD that you & John get to be home. Sounds like they have a plan in place.  Hope the meds kick the pneumonia and get John out of SO much pain. I hate it that he has to hurt. So cool that you stopped and it was snowing.
I haven't been downtown so I don't know if they have the decorations up. I doubt it. They really decorate up the college and have the "Carol of Lights'' usually on Dec 1.  Take care of yourselves. Thoughts and prayers coming out to you from Texas.  Big hugs, Barb

  18. WELCOME HOME!!!!!  I know that John will do much better at healing at home.

It's getting to look a lot like Christmas around here too.  Not everone has decorated.  Most don't these days.  We will.  But, what's odd is that there are some houses that still have their orange and black lights for Halloweeen while others are decked out in their Christmas best.

    Be well, Lu

  20. That Dr. C. is a sharp one!  I love him!  So, the pole in front of my house has lights and a big ole bow on it and green stuff... aren't I lucky?!!  I see it everytime I look outside.  The light pole.  Bellefonte decorates very early.  Yes, PA has the Christmas spirit!  Hooray for them!  What are you doing for Thanksgiving?  John and I are having a couple of meals delivered in by a church on Thanksgiving Day.  Isn't that nice?!!  Love, Val xox
