Happy Birthday to my Sissy Deirdre who was 40 yesterday! I love you, Honey!
Now about how John is doing...
We went to see Dr. Claxton's about a week ago. He decided that John would have one more chemo treatment and then have four weeks off. After the four weeks is over, Dr. Claxton will evaluate whether or not the chemo has worked (cured the Hemolytic Anemia). If it has not, then John will get the spleenectomy. So it is a waiting game, it looks like.
John has already finished his chemo treatments. Dr. Claxton will determine how successful the chemo treatments were (whether or not he is cured) based on how many blood transfusions John will need during the next few weeks, and on his counts. We are anxiously waiting to see what will happen. Meanwhile, I am going to read up on the internet on spleenectomies. If anybody has a good site, please let me know.
A little about myself...
I got a haircut! I really like it. Now I have a new hairstyle to go with my new glasses and clothes. Yes, I know, I keep meaning to take pics. I guess this year I am really doing a lot for myself because I went a whole year without doing anything for myself. I am also losing weight. I will tell you more about that later, and how I am doing it.
Okay, that's about it. Love you all, Krissy :)
Glad to hear you are doing things for yourself.... sometimes we get so involved in taking care of others we forget that we are important too!! Can't wait to see some pics of the 'new' you!
ReplyDeletewill keep john in prayer that he gets good news from doctor. happy birthday to your sis. good for you on the new haircut. ((((((((hugs))))))))

Krissy hon: I'm sending you a URL to read about what's involved in a splenectomy (that's the correct spelling). There are almost 3,000 results to help you learn what's involved in the procedure. http://www.righthealth.com/ {Let me know what you find, or if I can explain anything for you in plain English] I wished Deirdre a happy 40th in Val's place (LAV) hope she passes it on - what a beautiful bunch of sisters! Love you hun, CATHY
ReplyDeleteSo glad to hear John is doing better. And that you are pampering yourself. You deserve it....and it makes a girl feel good to have a new do (and clothes). Happy birthday to your pretty sister. Linda in Washington

Wished your sis a happy one at Val's blog. Keeping fingers crossed that John won't need a spleenectomy. Yes, we'd love to see your "makeover". I want a new hairstyle so bad but I don't know what. Have a good week.

Im glad John is getting a break as are you from chemo... my most hated part of the cancer treatment of course was that horrid chemo. :( so I know how great it is to have a nice break.
ReplyDeleteThanks to anyone who gave me some birthday wishes... one blog aol buddie sent me a very cute e-card... I felt that was very thoughtful.
I'm super happy you Kristina are taking a bit more time for yourself. I know for myself the times in my life I had to deal with hard things, or physical problems or just about anything that being self nurturing was always a good way to lift my spirits. I think women especially like to feel "pretty" and darn it we all should ! So I look forward to some new photos Kris that you keep promising to take. :)

Your sister Deirdre looks beautiful in her photo! She knows how to pose like a professional model. Happy 40th to her! I hope John's blood count gets better and better and I take it that a Spleenectomy has something to do with his blood count. I am so tired I have not slept that I feel I am falling asleep writing this. I had better lay down and try to sleep. Good for you on your new hair cut and clothes and glasses! That is great that you are losing weight. My weight has been increasing steadily so I need to reduce my intake of loaves of bread a week, lol. I get reduced price good 'Earth Grains' and end up eating bread just by itself it tastes so good. That and I have not been burning off calories by being active. I have been on my board for my back reading a lot which I enjoy. mark
ReplyDeletePRAYING!!!!!!!!!!!!!
