Merry Christmas

I hope you all have been having a Merry Christmas.  I've been having a wonderful one.  I am so thankful to God that John got to spend this Christmas at home instead of in the hospital.  We have been having a truly blessed time.  Today was a quiet day, spent just by ourselves, as Valerie was not feeling well.  So we ate our Christmas feast alone.  It was delicious!  Yesterday was lots of fun also, as John's parents came to visit.  John and I exchanged gifts today and I got a mousepad with kitties on it.  He is also going to buy me yarn (when I tell him what kind!) so I can learn how to crochet.  I want to make a blanket.  I got John two pairs of jeans, as he has lot 65 pounds, and the other pairs are just too large, LOL.

Before I go, I wanted to ask you, who out there remembers the silver aluminum Christmas trees?  If you are my age you will remember.  Did you have one in your childhood?  They came with a color wheel that spun around, making the tree change colors!  Nowadays we would think of them as tacky, but gee were they glorious to a child!  We couldn't wait to put ours up ever year.  I googled "silver aluminum tree" and found a photo, as well as one of the color wheel.

Well, I guess that's enough reminiscing for now, you all have a great week.  Love you all, Krissy :)

  11. Krissy, I remember our silver tree!!  It is my FAVORITE tree of all time!!  The colors were magnificent to my eye as a child!  How spectacular it was with the tinsel and old ornaments mom had!  So, good thing we didn't come yesterday because John2 got sooooooooooo sick.  I did, too, but he REALLY got sick.  If we would have given something to John, we would have never forgiven ourselves.  Love, Val xox

  19. Hi Krissy!  I'm so glad you were able to be home for Christmas!  I remember aluminum trees!!  I don't remember the color wheel though- but when we were little, my Mom would set up a small aluminum tree  in our front hallway- and hang red and blue or sometimes yellow and green balls on it.  It actually looked really classy!  I haven't thought of that ol' tree in years!  Thanks for reminding me!  Have a Blessed rest of the Christmas time- and also New Year!!  Love Carolyn

  24. I've seen tons of mini-aluminum trees out this year!   I love them now, lol.   Even if they are a bit tacky, it's, well, fun.  We decorated our cat tree this year as our Christmas tree.   Ah, yes, my child's idea, and it did work.  Merry Christmas:)  -- Robin

  26. I am so glad you and John were able to celebrate at home.  What a blessing and a gift from God!  I remember the alum. trees.  We never had one but our neighbors did.  They put it in the front window with the light wheel aimed at it and at night, when the lights were off in the house, that tree would glow in the dark.  I thought it was so ritzy!  LOL  My aunt had a white plastic tree and one of those color wheels but it wasn't as festive as the aluminum ones.  We had a green plastic artificial tree that was hidious now that I look back at the pictures.  The artificial trees have come a LONG way.

Happy New Year to you and John.  Prayers will continue your way as you continue on this journey toward John's returning health and recovery.  Bless you both!
    Hugs,  Kathy

  27. As one caregiver to another, I understand the "treasure" that is simply Chistmas at home together. ... and thanks for the memory of aluminum trees <grin>. My folks were die hard natural tree loyalists, however my Aunt proudly displayed her silver aluminum tree with spinning colored wheel. It was hypnotic in its magnificent tackiness. <grin>

  29. Hey Krissy .... I sure do remember those aluminum trees, complete with rotating color wheel !  My mother was very traditional, so we never did own one, but I was always fascinated with them.  Out here in California, another big thing was those 'snow-flocked trees'... the ones  that had fake snow on them.  Like they were fooling anyone ! lol   Anyway, glad to hear your Christmas was spent at home with John. A blessing indeed !  Wishing you both all good things in 2007.  Enjoy !  Tina http://journals.aol.com/onemoretina/Ridealongwithme
