Fruitcake. Delicious or doorstop?
My answer: Delicious. I love the stuff. I even like the store-bought kind! I buy it!
What's your answer? Krissy :)

UGH...
ReplyDeleteNancy : )
honestly its oddly a toss up between gross and yummy... its like circus peanuts! I like it with butter since its typically dry and wont go down your throat... with a nice big glass of eggnog... no doubt not of the yummier foods in the world but still oddly appealing.
ReplyDeleteIm glad you are home kris and took some time to yourself! Love xxxxx deirdre
Would you believe that I don't believe I have ever eaten any? I must put that on my list of things to do.
ReplyDeleteBarb
I've always thought that there was only one fruitcake in existance. It got passed around from person to person each year. I guess I finally know the last stop on the fruitcake conveyer belt....Krissy! If I get one this year, I'll forward it to you. I've never cared for them.

ReplyDeleteI like fruit cake...but haven't had one in years.
ReplyDeletedoor stop.
ReplyDeletenone for me thanks, i never could learn to like it.
ReplyDeleteCindy
I've only ever tasted one fruit cake that was good. I was young....maybe 10. Some older lady made it. The rest are just door stops. - Barbara
ReplyDeleteI don't trust cubed fruit that is only used in one recipe ever. <shivers>
ReplyDeleteAs a kid I would generally eat anything especially if it was sweet. So fruit cake was fine with me. It is like anything else in the sweet category that if I ate it all the time I would grow tired of it. The low priced commercial cakes can have a bland preserved unmoist with the candied fruit taste. I would think putting butter on it and heating it would add to the appeal. However there are some home made receipts that have a much more appealing ginger taste. At a computer shop they used an IBM computer for a doorstop back in 1994. mark
ReplyDeleteI have always liked fruit cake but have never bought one myself because they always seem kind of expensive, at least the ones I have seen....
ReplyDeleteHave a great Monday!!
Linda :)
Doorstop, to be regifted (unless it is, um, well you know what kind), nauseating, an insult to be given as a gift, and well, who LIKE'S these??? Except YOU, Krissy? LOL xox

I always kind of liked it, but would never admit it in public today. I did like nuts in it though. Joni
ReplyDeleteHi Krissy- I haven't had it for a long time. I can eat it- but it tends to sit in my tummy like a lump of lead for a long time after! It can be tasty though. Hope all is well with you all~ God Bless! Carolyn

ReplyDeleteI love fruitcake if it is homemade. Mom use to soak cheese cloth in brandy and wrap them in it to keep moist. Was soooo good.

I love fruitcake, thankfully I only have it at Christmas time so really enjoy it when I do eat it. No one else in our family enjoys it, so that's a special holiday joy for me...Arlene (AJ)
ReplyDeleteHummm, I am not sure... I don't think I ever ventured to try it. Maybe this year I will take a chance and try it. I will report back my like or dislike. :)
ReplyDeleteKate~
yukky but if i ever get one as a gift i now know who to send it to...lol
ReplyDeleteI love fruitcake. Always have.
ReplyDeletePam
I have never tasted it. I make a gumdrop cake (my aunt made it every year it is the only christmas tradition that I have) Gordon likes it and says it is a lot like fruitcake.
ReplyDeleteLove it now! I make it using my great grandmother's recipe with a few adjustmenets
ReplyDeleteI vote NO on fruit cake. No Way/No How.
ReplyDeleteHugs, Kathy
Love it, never have to buy it thanks to all family members who hate it and give it over to meeeee!!! Yup, LOVE it. Lasts for years. CATHY
ReplyDeleteI only like the homemade kind--not my favorite, but if it's sweet and a baked good it's hard to find me not liking it! ;-) Sassy
ReplyDeletenot sure...I don't read good stories about 'em...I have yet to try one.
ReplyDeleteGem :-)
Fruitcake is good for "regifting". a well wrapped christmas fruicake, once received, can be rewrapped ad sent to someone as a chtistmas gift many times over.... for years.
